Getting Started

  • Q.01 What is ReadyFirst?

ReadyFirst is a cognitive assessment platform built specifically for 911 dispatcher hiring. We help agencies identify candidates most likely to finish training and answer the call, using a battery of cognitive tests plus a self-report personality questionnaire.

  • Q.02 How do I get started?

Contact our team and we'll walk you through your first assessment. We offer pay-as-you-go for occasional testing and annual plans for agencies with regular hiring cycles.

  • Q.03 Do you provide onboarding?

Annual plan customers get an onboarding call with the founder to set up the org, invite candidates, and walk through how to read the results. Pay-as-you-go customers can use the same self-serve flow and we're available by email if you get stuck.

Assessment Process

  • Q.01 How long does each assessment take?

Plan for 45–90 minutes depending on the modules selected. We've designed the battery to be thorough but respectful of candidates' time.

  • Q.02 Can assessments be taken remotely?

Yes. Candidates take assessments in a web browser — in-person at your facility or remote on their own device. The platform autosaves progress, so a brief disconnect doesn't lose work.

  • Q.03 What does the assessment measure?

The cognitive battery measures objectively-scored ability across multiple sub-tests (accuracy and reaction time on tasks designed for dispatcher-relevant cognitive load). The personality questionnaire is self-report and surfaces traits relevant to dispatcher fit. Both are part of every candidate's report.

  • Q.04 Are the assessments designed specifically for 911 dispatcher roles?

Yes. The battery is built around the cognitive demands of dispatcher work, not adapted from generic office or aptitude testing. The component tests draw on established cognitive psychology paradigms, applied to the dispatcher hiring context.

Technical Requirements

  • Q.01 What are the technical requirements?

Any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or current Safari) with a stable internet connection. No software installation. Desktop or laptop is recommended over mobile for the cognitive battery.

  • Q.02 How does ReadyFirst handle security?

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use role-based access so candidates see their portal only, and your team sees only your organization's data. Authentication supports SAML SSO on top of standard email/password and magic-link sign-in. We're working toward SOC 2 attestation; details available on request.

  • Q.03 Do you handle CJIS-controlled data?

ReadyFirst is a pre-hire cognitive assessment platform. We don't request, store, or transmit Criminal Justice Information (CJI) — the data we handle is candidate-supplied (name, email, assessment responses), not records from CJI systems. We can provide a CJIS applicability statement on request for procurement reviews.

  • Q.04 What happens if there are technical issues during an assessment?

The platform autosaves progress server-side. If a candidate's link expires, browser crashes, or internet drops, they can return via the same link or request a new one at app.readyfirst.pro/portal/request-link and pick up where they left off.

Pricing and Plans

  • Q.01 What pricing options are available?

Pay-as-you-go at $100 per assessment, or annual plans starting at $7,500. Volume pricing is available for higher assessment counts — contact us for a quote.

  • Q.02 Are there setup fees or long-term contracts?

No setup fees. Pay-as-you-go has no contractual commitment. Annual plans offer better per-assessment economics if you have a regular hiring cadence.

  • Q.03 Can we get a discount for higher volumes?

Yes. Send us your expected annual volume and we'll quote you. Larger agencies on the Regional plan get a lower per-assessment overage rate.

  • Q.04 What's included in each plan?

All plans include the cognitive battery and personality questionnaire, the candidate management dashboard, role-based access for your team, and email support. Higher tiers add a larger included assessment volume, lower overage pricing, an onboarding call with the founder, and quarterly check-ins on the Regional plan.

Support and Implementation

  • Q.01 What kind of support do you provide?

Email support on every plan, with priority response on annual plans. Annual plan customers also get an onboarding call with the founder; Regional plan customers get quarterly check-ins.

  • Q.02 How long does it take to get up and running?

Most agencies are sending their first invitations within a day or two of signing up — there's no implementation phase to schedule. The onboarding call (annual plans) helps you set up your org, invite teammates, and learn how to read results.

  • Q.03 Do you offer guidance on hiring best practices?

We can share what we see across our customer base and what the cognitive psychology literature says about dispatcher selection. We're not lawyers and don't provide legal advice on EEOC compliance or specific job-relatedness studies — but we'll happily put you in touch with industrial-organizational psychologists who do that work.

  • Q.04 How does ReadyFirst integrate with HRIS or ATS systems?

We don't currently offer pre-built HRIS or ATS integrations. Most customers handle the connection by exporting candidate data and uploading it into their system. If integration is critical for your agency, tell us — we'll learn what you need.

Data and Reporting

  • Q.01 What kind of reporting is available?

Each candidate gets an individual report showing battery scores (accuracy, reaction time, completion stats per sub-test) and personality questionnaire results. Your team sees a candidate list with status and headline metrics for screening decisions.

  • Q.02 How long is candidate data retained?

We retain candidate data while your account is active. If you have specific retention requirements (e.g. delete after 12 months), tell us and we'll configure it for your organization or run periodic deletions on request.

  • Q.03 Can we export assessment data?

Right now, the candidate dashboard is the primary surface for reading results. We don't yet offer self-serve CSV/PDF export — if you need data out for a hiring committee or records, contact support and we'll provide it. Self-serve export is on the roadmap.

  • Q.04 Is candidate data kept secure and confidential?

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is role-based — candidates see only their own portal, and your team sees only your organization's data. We're hosted on Cloudflare and use a managed Postgres database with industry-standard security controls.
